Activities
If you are new to Long Island’s North Fork, you will be pleasantly surprised
at the number of activities that you can enjoy during your stay. More than
30 vineyards and wineries, many of which offer tasting, tours, and fine
selections of wine, are of course, a major attraction. Many of the wineries
offer live music during the summer months.
In June the Mattituck Strawberry festival draws many visitors each year.
Our many farm-stands are open nearly half the year, offering fresh fruits
and vegetables. And of course pumpkin picking commences as Halloween
draws near.
The hamlets and villages also have many historical attractions, some of
which date back to revolutionary times.
Greenport village features many antique and gift shops as well as Mitchell
Park where the old Grumman Merry-Go-Round has found its final resting
place.
The Shelter Island Ferries can take you to Shelter Island and to the South
Fork.
Water tours are also offered in Greenport.
On weekends during the summer many folks enjoy the music and dancing
on Claudio’s dock, also in Greenport.
In addition to many town beaches, Orient State Park offers a beautiful beach
and a number of nature trails. Additional nature trails are available in
many of our hamlets.
The Atlantis Aquarium is located in the historical old downtown area of
Riverhead not far from the waterfront park. County road 58 in Riverhead
has become a shopping Mecca the highlight of which is the Tanger Outlet
Center.
And, some of the finest restaurants on Long Island are located here along
the North Fork.

A ten minute stroll will bring you to our local pristine beach on
Peconic Bay. It’s at the gateway to Nassau Point, and is just one of
our many wonderful beaches along the North Fork at Peconic Bay
and the Long Island Sound.
